hello! i’ve had so many of you ask me for this review, so i thought it was about time i got it up. my drunk elephant skin care products review!
i got a few of drunk elephant’s skin care products for christmas, so i’ve been using them for about a month now – a little over. if you don’t know what drunk elephant is, it’s a skin care brand that has been crushing it lately. all of their products are super clean and chemical free.
i would say that the biggest turn off of these products is the price tag. a lot of people (understandably) don’t want to try them because they are on the higher end price tag wise.
so i’m hoping this review helps you out! i’m hoping it helps you decide if it is or isn’t worth the price tag.
my skin type/history
first, i think it’s important that we talk a little bit about my skin. everyone has different skin issues they want to address and there is not one product that will work for everyone. if you’ve been following along on my blog (or instagram) you will know i’ve been dealing with really bad combination skin and acne this year. it has been a struggle to say the least.
i’ve also been trying to change out all of my skin care/home products to chemical-free/clean. which is one of the reasons drunk elephant appealed to me so much.
because of my acne right now, i would say that my skin is very combination. it kind of does whatever the weather is doing. if it’s dry out, my skin is super dry, if it’s humid out, my skin is super oily. when the weather is just kind of in between, i would say that my skin is more on the oily side.
please also keep in mind that i am on a few different prescriptions for my acne right now – which i’m sure 100% affects my thoughts on these products. for reference, i am currently using clindamycin and well as tretinoin. just incase anyone else has used those in the past or is currently using them as well!
ok let’s get on with the review!
jelly cleanser
if you’ve ever used the glossier milky jelly cleanser, this is pretty similar to that. i only bought glossier’s cleanser once, so i don’t want to fully compare them, but they def remind me of each other! drunk elephants jelly cleanser claims to remove your makeup, pollution etc. all of the gross stuff without harmfully stripping your skin. and i loved it! i felt like it did exactly what it claimed.
since my skin has been SUPER dry with the medication i’m on and the winter months, i really couldn’t use anything that dried out or stripped my skin too much. this was super gentle and didn’t irritate my eyes or dry my skin. the price of this is $32 and to be honest, i don’t think that’s too bad for the quality of this product. i’ve used A LOT of cleansers – or “clean, non irritating, safe for all skin types” cleansers, and this is one of the only ones that didn’t actually irritate my skin or cause me to break out.
so this one gets a thumbs up from me!
protini polypeptide cream
next up is the polypeptide cream. this is a little boost you’re supposed to use at night and in the morning after cleansing. i would pretty much use it in the morning as a regular moisturizer. it was super soothing, didn’t cause me to break out, and also didn’t have a strong scent – which was very appreciated. it claims to improve your skin’s overall texture, tone and firmness.
i don’t think i’ve used it long enough to see those types of results, so i may have to get back to you on that BUT it did dry matte and didn’t make my skin oily and i love that there wasn’t any sort of strong scent. it does cost $68, which is pretty steep. at this point, i don’t think i would purchase the full size (i got a small tester from a drunk elephant kit), but i also don’t think i’ve been using it long enough to have a fair opinion.
if you do have the money and are looking for a chemical free/clean moisturizer that has a matte finish and essentially no scent – i think this is for you! but it also isn’t an essential for my skincare routine and out of all of their other products, this wasn’t my favorite.
b-hydra intensive hydration serum
this stuff is AMAZING – like AHHHMAZING! probably my favorite product from drunk elephant. the hydration serum was hydrating (obv) but also didn’t leave my skin feeling oily, which tends to happen. it sunk into my skin right away and didn’t linger on top. there was no strong smell and my skin just looked super hydrated. i can’t say for sure that it improved my skin’s texture or tone (i only had a small sample and i used it up in like two weeks), but i will say that it felt so good on my very dry skin. i even used it on parts of my hands that got super dry and flakey.
this retails for $52 and i have to say that it’s worth every penny. the price isn’t even THAT bad considering it’s clean and non-irritating. there’s really no down side to this product.
shaba complex eye serum
this was another one of my favorite products from drunk elephant. the shaba complex eye serum is a silky eye cream that is supposed to help with firmness and aging. i only had a small sample, but a little goes a long way. this is amazing because it costs $60. but the small sample i had lasted me an entire month. i used it morning and night!
if i haven’t said how dry my skin has been enough – it has been SO DRY. like to the point where even around my eyes is peeling and it hurts. i’ve tried two other eye creams and this is the only one that didn’t sting when i put it on. it felt super soothing and refreshing. it also dried matte and sank in right away. i have hooded eyes and this may sound gross, but the skin on my eyelids can sometimes just be too loose and hang over my eyelids and i hate it and it just really bothers me lol BUT this eye serum literally tightened it up!
i really didn’t think it would do that, but the skin stopped hanging over, it was firm, it was matte and not oily – like, i absolutely LOVED the results from this. i would 100% say that it is worth every penny. it also helped my dark circles and puffiness in the morning. it just addressed every issue i had with my eyes and i think you’ll really like it too.
c-firma day serum
the last product i’m going to talk about is the c-firma day serum. everyone RAVES about this and i was so stoked to try it out! i feel like, though, that i can’t give you a full review on this yet. i’ll tell you how i feel about the product and how it applies, but i just haven’t been using it long enough to give it a fair shot.
this product is supposed to firm and brighten your complexion. i’ve heard it does wonders for acne marks and dark spots – and just brightens your skin overall. since my skin is super sensitive due to the acne medicine i am on, i thought it would be best to introduce it slowly into my skin care. i haven’t been using it every day. i’ve been doing more like every other day. a little goes a long way, which is good considering it’s $80. so i’m sure it lasts a long time! the smell was pretty subtle as well, which was good.
the only bummer (so far) was that i feel like it didn’t sink in as well as i would have liked it to. it looked a bit oily on my skin, but that could also be my skin needing to be exfoliated or using too much product.
so, i’m going to continue to use this product for a few more months and probably write a separate review on it later! i want to make sure i give it a fair chance before i say if it’s worth it or not.
conclusion
i also have the sheer spf 30 moisturizer and the tinted spf moisturizer. i’ll write another post about those! i felt like this one was getting too long. but let me know if you’ve tried other products from drunk elephant! they are pricey, but a little goes a long way and their products last such a long time. plus, since they are chemical free and clean, i feel like you just can’t beat that.

Have you reached out to them with questions? I did and they gave me the most thorough recommendations on use, when, how much, etc. it was amazing. Never received anything like it! You should too!
I’ve learned a lot from Veronica ! Consider the price over the life ($52/3=17 per month) which 3 months is most common.
I’ve also learned that vitamin c is more of a long term benefit vs results. Like less aging.
I also love the packaging. Way less likely to waste and also from bacteria getting in it!
