public goods products review
as you know, part of my 2019 resolutions was to switch to more chemical free products. i just find it way better for the environment (obv) and better for my body as well! everyone has different goals, but this was really important to em. so if you’re interested in chemical free, organic products, here is my review of public goods products!
for a while i contemplated making my own products with essential oils. i have a friend who does that, and she’s amazing at it. but when it comes down to it, i don’t have the time. i work full time and between that and just spending time with my dog and family, it can be tough to put extra time aside.
i am SO thankful my friend taylor told me about public goods. i swear this post isn’t sponsored by them! i am just genuinely so happy and pleased with my experience. i literally love every single product i’ve tried of theirs so far. every. single. one.
i know, that’s a bold statement.
but hear me out!
their product are:
- vegan
- gluten free
- zero waste
- organic
- tree free
- vegetarian
i know, it sounds too good to be true. BUT IT IS TRUE! on top of that, they smell AHHHMAZING. every single one of their products is made with ingredients that are safe for you and the environment. no crazy weird harmful chemicals. EVER. plus, their packaging is so simple and clean. it actually makes the spaces in my apartment look cuter. their products are also SO affordable. you just pay $60 for a yearly membership (kind of like the gym but like 100x cheaper) and you get all of their products basically at cost.
ok, i’m going to stop rambling so i can talk about a few of the products i’ve used.
so far, i’ve ordered and tried
- body wash
- hand soap
- lotion
- toothpaste
- deodorant
- sunscreen
- lip balm
- sea sponge
- surface cleaner
- glass cleaner
- bathroom cleaner
- dish soap
- dishwasher detergent
- laundry detergent
- wool dryer balls
wow, ok, that’s so many. i didn’t realize it was so many until i just listed everything out and linked it all for you. but my goal here is to use as many planet/body friendly products in my home and on my skin as possible. everything is basically made with essential oils. fricken cool.
i’m not going to write a review on every single product right now, because we would literally be here all day. but i’ll pick like five of my favorites.
deodorant
ok, so, switching to a chemical free/all natural deodorant is HARD. it has zero antiperspirant in it, so it doesn’t stop you from sweating really, it just makes you smell nice. it took a few months for my body to adjust, i won’t lie. it’s still trying to adjust and it’s been 3 months. but i’m still loving it! it smells SO good and doesn’t make me smell bad at all. regular deodorant can be so so so bad for you. like so bad! and i realize not everyone can switch to a natural deodorant, but if you can and want to try one out. this is for you! plus, it lasts honestly forever. i feel like i’ve barely used it up at all and it’s been 3 months. like i said.
toothpaste
now, i don’t know if my body hates gluten or it was the chemicals or what, but my lips hated regular toothpaste. like, HATED. every time i would brush my teeth, my lips would swell a bit and get itchy. i know, kind of a problem. switching to a natural toothpaste was really important for me (and my lips). and i am obsessed with this one! a lot of natural toothpastes can have a super weird texture or taste, but this is amazing. let me say the word “amazing” like a million more times in this post. but for real. it tastes super normal, doesn’t have a weird texture, and lasts forever. i’m almost done with my first tube and it’s been 3 months. like i said up there. pretty good if you ask me!
body wash
this was also a really important change i wanted to make. there are so many awful chemicals in body washes. they really just strip the good oils on your skin and mess with your ph balance and all of that jazz. just because they smell good and look pretty, doesn’t mean they are good for your skin. and you’re using it every.single.day. CRAZY. the body wash from public goods is sooooooo good. it smells so citrusy and refreshing! plus it didn’t over-dry my skin and lathers really well. sometimes with organic-ish body washes they won’t lather very well or you have to use a lot of the product. this was a life saver! i feel clean, it lasts forever (again, i know) and the smell was perfect. oooh! plus! most of their products have refills, so that you don’t have to waste packaging and can just use the same bottle over and over again. SO FRICKEN COOL.
surface cleaner
i use this literally every day. it smells like jasmine! and it sooooo calming and refreshing! it’s not overly scented either, which i enjoy. i don’t think i can ever go back to using a normal surface cleaner after this. they all smell SO chemically (obv) compared to this one. it’s just insane the difference. i feel like it gets the job done, it smells good, and is safe to be around pets and kids! i spray my counters, table, chairs, tv stand, coffee table, EVERYTHING with this. i used to be such a huge fan of the clorox wipes, but dude, you can’t bring those around kids or food or anything. obviously. i know. but it’s terrible to inhale and it’s terrible for the environment. i find myself over-using this because it’s just so mild and smells so good, that i basically just spray it on everything that i can. lol LOVE IT!
lotion
their lotion smells soooo fresh! which i really like in a lotion. my skin actually gets super itchy and irritated with regular scented lotions. like i can’t use any of the bath and body works ones, or anything like that. i just have super crazy allergies and my skin is very sensitive. so i’ve always had to use an unscented super mild lotion. which can just be really boring after a while. but this is great because it doesn’t irritate my skin, it sinks into my skin right away, and also smells so fresh and clean. i love using it after the shower!
a few other photos of some of their products because i just love their simple packaging –
conclusion
i know it sounds like i was paid to talk about how much i love these products, but i swear i’m being very truthful. forever grateful for friends like taylor who know me and are always sending me recommendations for things like this. get yourself some friends like that. als0 cool – you can read the ingredients when you click on the product on their site too, which is cool. it tells you what is and even isn’t in the product.
ok, that’s enough for now! if you’re interested you can get your first month free. so you can buy all the products you want without paying for the initial $60 fee! not a sales pitch, i swear. just do it, ok! you won’t regret it.
