my first microdermabrasion treatment
hey! this week’s blog post is all about my first microdermabrasion treatment. i asked you all on instagram if you wanted me to do a blog post about my first treatment and not one person said no. haha, so here we are!
i’m going to take you through what concerns i had with my skin, the treatment process, and then my results. as always, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments! if you don’t know, microdermabrasion is a treatment that removes all of the dead skin cells from your face. it can be used to treat so many skin concerns like wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, clogged pores, skin texture and minor scars.
my skin concerns
a few of the issues i was having with my skin (and still am) were scaring and oil/clogged pores. it’s normal to suffer from breakouts every now and again, but my scarring was having the hardest time fading. there’s nothing worse than finally getting rid of a bad break out, but then having to deal with scars for the next month. i hate it so much!
because of my clogged pores and all of the dead skin that needed to be removed, my skin was also way more oily than it had ever been. my makeup wasn’t staying on my face and my skin care products weren’t sinking in the way they should have been. i will say, i was not exfoliating my skin as much as i should have been, however, at home exfoliation can only do so much.
if you have any skin issues like that, you should def go talk to your medspa about microdermabrasion!
the treatment
honestly, this was the easiest and quickest thing EVER. she told me that some people even go in on their lunch break to have this done because it’s that simple. i’ve never had a facial (or any treatment) done before, so i wasn’t too sure what to expect, but i didn’t expect it to be this easy lol.
i basically got in, she cleansed my skin, and then started the treatment! it literally was like a tiny vacuum just sucking up all of my dead skin cells. there is no other way to describe it other than a tiny little vacuum. it didn’t hurt at all either! it felt kind of good. but she went over my entire face about 2.5x to make sure it was all good and it took about 25 minutes. that’s it!
she also showed me all of my dead skin after and it was kind of gross but also kind of cool.
results
my face was a tiny bit pink after, just from having work done, but after like 15 minutes, it was completely fine. my skin was SOOO soft after. and so glowy! my scarring was still present, but that’s something that will take a few treatments to officially go away. that night, i left my skin as is. i didn’t do my normal skin car routine because there wasn’t really a need to.
the next morning my skin was still SO soft and SO glowy. my scars had faded even more! which was awesome. my products (oil and moisturizer) sunk into my skin like super fast and i actually felt like they were properly working too. after about 3 days of perfect skin (or better skin), the dead skin cells seemed to build up a bit more, but even to this day (a week later), my skin is still feeling super fresh.
in conclusion, this is something that i am going to keep doing for the next few months. it’s recommended to get it done every 6-8 weeks, so i will probably do that for a bit. at least until my scars are gone! it feels so good to have someone help me with my skin. it can be so frustrating to feel so self conscious without any makeup on, and i’m glad i took the plunge.
if you have any questions at all leave them in the comments below! or shoot me a message on any one of my social media pages. i’d be happy to help!

haley, i realized i never responded to you!! it was about $70-80. i’m sure it depends on where you go to get it done. they recommend doing it every 6-8 weeks.
