how to stay organized as a blogger
sometimes being a blogger (or just a human being in general) can be pretty overwhelming when you have so much going on. i am pretty obsessive when it comes to being organized and literally would not be able to function if i didn’t do the things below.
if you’re feeling like life’s a bit crazy and want to feel just a tiny bit organized, then hopefully i can help! here are 5 tips to help you stay organized.
also there’s a few photos from my most recent trip home! just thought i would throw them in here. xo
write it down.
yah, it probably goes without saying but seriously WRITE it down. don’t type it on a list in your phone or put it on your laptop. physically get out a piece of paper or sticky note and write it down. i feel like when i actually write something down it sticks in my memory. it also feels way too good to cross if off your list once it’s complete.
get a planner.
now, this also might seem obvious, but believe it or not, i didn’t consistently use a planner until a few years ago. i don’t know how i survived college without it. having a planner and actually writing down what needs to be done every day, honestly just helps me visualize what’s going on. if i can see everything i have going on right in front of me, it tends to feel a lot less chaotic.
stop making piles.
i am SO guilty of doing this, but how many of you also make a million random piles for everything in your house? i have a pile of stuff that belongs in folders. i have a pile of stuff that belongs in the bedroom. a pile of stuff that needs to be taken to goodwill. there’s even sometimes a pile of things that can be thrown away. making all of these piles honestly just makes me procrastinate even more and causes too much clutter. instead of making piles of tasks, just do them right away. go to good will THAT SAME DAY. file your important papers right after you’re done with them. just do it!
go for a walk.
wait what? how does this help you stay organized. well, i guess it techincally doesn’t, BUT it’ll help your mind. when i’m feeling overwhelmed and unorganized and flustered, going for a walk clears it all away. sometimes we think the physical things in our lives are what is unorganized, but a lot of times, it can just be your brain. clear your mind, relax, focus on nature a bit and when you return to your home or work, it will feel like you just filed all of your feelings and frustrations away in a nice filing cabinet. just try it! it will make you feel much more put together.
one at a time.
i know we’re all huge fans of multitasking, and let me tell you, i can be so BOMB at multitasking. but sometimes this can lead to trouble. i’ve learned that in order to feel organized and actually be more organized, i need to do one task at a time. that way, things are getting fully complete before i move on to the next. literally sometimes i will be in the middle of writing an email, and i’ll stop writing that email to start another email and it’s like WHY AM I LIKE THIS. why can’t i just finish the first email? because then i end up with like a million and one things that are half started and my to do list jut gets longer and longer.
there you have it! i hope that helps. if you have any other tips, let me know! thanks for reading xo
