happy thursday! it’s almost friday right? i’m coming at you with a super simple diy flower crown. honestly, if i can do it, anyone can. i don’t know why i’m obsessed with flower crowns lately, but i am. i just think they’re so cute. this was my first attempt at a flower crown so it’s not the most creative or colorful – but let’s face it, i’m not a very colorful person.
what you will need:
- fake flowers (duh) – or real actually, whatever you prefer
- flower tape
- flower wire
- scissors
this literally only cost me $18 – which is sweet! i was looking at etsy, and they charge like $40+.. and i was like uhh, no. ill just make one.
i’m a pretty plain person and i don’t really wear a lot of color, so i stuck with a green and white theme.
this is the flower tape i got and below the wire i got – everything is from michael’s, btw.
the first thing i did was measure the wire around my head. i then doubled the wire and twisted it all together.
the next thing i did was wrap the tape all the way around the wire. i did this to make it more durable. some of the other tutorials i saw only wrapped the tape around the part where you secure the wire, but i didn’t want it to easily break.
after that, i started with the greenery. i basically just taped all of the greenery around the crown. i didn’t worry too much about hiding the tape because i knew it would be covered by flowers.
i pretty much just started adding flowers after that. the hardest part of making this was honestly trying to figure out where to put all of the flowers. like, i didn’t think it would be that hard, but it was.
i also wish the greenery leaves would have been a little smaller. next flower crown i make, i may get smaller leaves because i honestly have the smallest head in the world and they stick out more than i would like. for an ordinary person, this is probably fine.
the result
i’m a pretty minimalistic person, so i kept it pretty simple, but i may go back and add more flowers or even a little bit of color.. MAYBE.
and there you have it! a super simple diy flower crown. i would love to do this with real flowers someday if i have a special occasion because i think they would look better, but it obviously wouldn’t last very long.
also, it may not look like it, but we were seriously fighting the weather in these photos. it was sprinkling and super windy and super cold, but today was the only day i had time to shoot the photos.
anyway,
thanks for reading and i hope you got something out of this! haha
xo,
courtney
