clearly, i have an obsession with jackets. my new current fav is from forever 21 and it is the most comfortable jacket in the world! of course it’s faux but i am absolutely obsessed with it. you can dress it down or up and it keeps you relatively warm in 20 degree weather for a jacket that only cost me $30.

if you know me, you know marquette is one of my favorite places on this earth. filled with the best hiking and lake superiors unpredictable waves. this train bridge is amazing and overlooks a beautiful river. we heard a train coming from what sounded like pretty far away, but we were wrong. as we were taking these photos the train started coming down the bridge. naturally i freaked out and we ran. we managed to get a few cool shots of the train going by. as you can see, we were pretty close to it. thankfully, it was a really short train and we were able to head on our way after it passed. if you’re wondering, my hat is from forever 21 and my jean jacket is from my mom when she was my age (hi mom if you’re reading this).

patches and embroidery are SO popular right now and i can’t help but love it. i’ve been really drawn to roses for some reason. any shirt, pants, hat, etc. with a rose on it, i fall in love. browsing through the internet, i found this rose tee and sweatshirt from NYCT and i added them both to my cart immediately. the price for both is a little on the high side considering they’re pretty plain pieces. i’m a sucker for a good diy and i decided to try and make both items myself for way cheaper. i headed over to joann fabric’s to find some rose patches. i found two different iron on rose patches (i only ended up using one) for about $3-$4 each, which i thought was reasonable. i also found a tee shirt for $4 and a black crew sweatshirt for i think around $7. so in total, each piece cost me around $10 which is CRAZY considering the same-ish items went for 2-3x that price online. i wish i had more of a tutorial for you on how i made these, but i literally grabbed a shirt and ironed a patch on and called it good. that’s how easy it is! the patches were a little smaller than i wanted them to be, but after going to a few different craft stores, this was the best i could find. i’m sure you can look up some even better patches online to order. below are pictures of me trying to model both clothing pieces. there you have it! a diy SO easy, you didn’t even need step by step instructions. since i only ironed these patches on, i’ll probably sew them on properly before i plan on washing them so they don’t fall off. ok, that’s all! xo, courtney raf
