hello.
can you believe the first day of fall is this week? honestly, where did summer go? of course fall is my favorite, but the warm summer months went by way too fast. i’m not sure about the weather where you are from, but in michigan we are lucky if we get any warm days in october – the weather drops super fast. below are three things to do before summer ends!
*ALSO – i’m sorry this is being posted on monday and not my normal day of sunday but i just HAD to go see the movie “it” last night – it did not disappoint. if you want to know when i post a blog each time, you can subscribe in the form at the bottom of this screen OR you can follow me on instagram too xo
ice cream on the patio
1. eat ice cream on the patio – this may seem like a small task, but it’s one of my favorite summer treats. like i said previously, the weather temperature drops without warning here in michigan. i’m also naturally a cold person – i generally don’t eat ice cream in the winter. my boyfriend on the other hand, can eat it any time, day or night. regardless, there’s something about eating ice cream in the park or outside at your favorite shop in the summer that makes it taste better than any other time of the year.
my all time favorite ice cream is either mint chocolate chip (which you can find anywhere) or pistachio almond! seriously, give me a scoop of either and i will be a happy camper. what are your favorites? im not very adventurous when it comes to food, but you never know lol maybe i’ll try it.
beach adventures
2. head to the beach – living next to lake michigan (and lake superior in my hometown) means days in the lake can be cut short depending on weather. weather on the lake can be up to 10 degrees cooler than it is inland. as i stated previously, i’m naturally always cold. if it’s colder than 70 on the beach, i’ll probably avoid it.
so far we’ve been pretty lucky and the days have been so warm! over the weekend it was in the 80’s – i loved it. instead of getting a tan on the beach, we decided to bring kylo and take a little hike in some sand dunes along lake michigan. see the photos below!
i love fall and winter so much, but i will miss the summer hikes along the lake. they are truly the best!
mini vacay
3. road trip or long drive – driving in the winter in michigan is the WORST- no seriously, THE WORST. i hate it and so do most people. if you can’t go on a mini vacation/road trip, a long drive through the country will do just fine! nothing beats cruising with the windows down (especially if you bring your dog) and listening to your favorite jams on a weekend afternoon. this is one of my favorite things to do not only in the summer, but when i’m stressed out! park the car and watch the sunset and you will be in heaven. i’m so bummed that the sun will soon be setting at 5pm and i can no longer do this. so take advantage while you can!
there you have it! super simple and easy activities to do while the sun is still warm. below are a few photos from our last (most likely) trip to the beach/sand dunes. my cover up is from charlotte russe. AND ITS ON SALE RIGHT NOW – HURRY!
