3 easy ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle
happy sunday
i know.. i missed last week, i’m sorry! this week im bringing you 3 easy ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. i know it’s march and if you promised yourself a new and healthy lifestyle for 2018, you may find yourself struggling. i know i am. i always find january and half of february to be super motivating and i’m on top of my workouts and diet, but that starts to fade the closer we get to march and april.
being healthy really is a lifestyle! you have to change the way you sleep, eat, breathe (lol) completely. it’s not about avoiding junk food and working out every single day – it’s about making better choices each day. if i think of it that way, in terms of making better choices, i don’t put as much pressure on myself.
ok, let’s just get into it! here are 3 super easy ways to stick with a healthier lifestyle.
more water, less sugar
i probably started doing this like 8 years ago, BUT whenever i go to a restaurant or fast food or whatever, i always always always order water. no more juices and no more sodas. if i do decide to get a cider or juice or something, i always make sure to order at last one water to drink with it. this means less sugar and more hydration! i find myself reaching for water more when i’m at home because of this as well.
don’t get me wrong, i love a good apple juice or what have you here and there, but by replacing most of your beverages with water, you’re decreasing your sugar intake by sooooo much.
better snacks
i know sometimes it can be super easy to grab a bag of chips or cookies for a little snack throughout the day or at night, but i have replaced all of my snacks with either fruits or veggies. instead of grabbing pretzels or crackers in the middle of the day, i make sure to have an apple or carrots or an orange, etc. i find it super hard to incorporate fruits and veggies into to my meals, which is so annoying, i know. but by replacing all of my snacks with them, it ensures that i get my servings in. every now and again i’ll have some oreos or gold fish, like a 5 year old lol but i try not to even buy them at the grocery store any more. the less i eat them, the less i crave them!
happy mind happy body
every morning or at least before i go to sleep, i try to read something that inspires me. whether that’s a few inspirational quotes on pinterest, or my favorite excerpts from books – it always puts me in a better head space. being stressed puts soooo much strain onĀ your body and i truly believe that a healthy diet and exercise can only do so much for you if you’re super stressed. SO get inspired! listen to podcasts, read motivational books and quotes, your body will feel healthier if your mind is headed in that direction as well.
sunsets
there you have it! a few superrrr easy ways to create a healthier lifestyle. also, don’t forget to watch more sunsets! the weather is soooo close to spring and i’m really happy about that. we caught two sunsets last week! here’s a few photos from one of them xo
